THE SILVER LININGS NEWSLETTER AUTUMN '24
It's been quite a year of activity so far. May saw The Silver play the Simi Valley Street Fair with a set of original songs and unexpected classic rock tunes, which pleasantly surprised the crowd: On August 5, the boys opened with a set of originals for the Young Elvis tribute group at North Hollywood Concert-in-the-Park.
Even though it was a scorcher, we were blessed with a good-sized audience.
On the strength of that performance, on Sept. 23 The Silver was invited to headline one of the first concerts at the newly created Sherman Oaks/Van Nuys Concert-in-the-Park. Great crowd, vast lawn, lots of kids and doggies. The event was sponsored by the Valley Cultural Foundation, the same great organization that brought us to the Warn

We were joined by drummer John Penney.
John brings his own unique styles to the band, both in the studio and at live gigs, adding surprising accents with a great ‘internal clock’.
There are also a few side projects that keep band members busy. Kevin and Chris, aka North & South, can be found regularly as a duet with a mix of originals and unusual cover tunes at two locations in Moorpark - Carrara’s and Energren Brewing Company, as well as Rib Ranch in Woodland Hills (fabulous onion rings!!!!). Chris and Mark have been showcasing their original material at Nabu Wines’ Truckstop MixTape Singer Songwriter Nights in Westlake Village. They also appeared in June at “Make Music Topanga”, a day long event with stages and performance venues up and down the length of Topanga Canyon.
As of this writing, the band is working on arrangements for select cover tunes and a big batch of new songs, completing new multi-genre material. Sundance Studios, spiritual and ancestral home of The Silver, is undergoing a revamp, including new systems, Hammond/Nord keyboard integration and large curved computer screens in the recording
